It's Just the Beginning For Us - 11/05/2008

There's a lot of discussion going on after Tuesday's election about how history is being made.  On one hand, I'm glad to see that the bulk of the country has gotten past the race issue such that we've elected a black man to the highest level of government.  On the other hand, it was Dr. King himself who said that we should judge a person by the content of their character, not on the color of their skin.  Judging by Barrack Obama's political content, I can't say that I'm looking forward to the next four years any more than I enjoyed the last four.  Given the fact that our choices for president were essentially a kick in the shin or a punch to the kidney, I found it difficult to muster up much excitement at all for this past election.

Now it's time to start thinking about and planning for the midterm elections.  I know that at this point most people are just sick of politics and want a break.  This is why our campaign won't ramp up until approximately the middle of 2009.  This will give everyone a chance to recover from the grueling process of having to bear the mainstream media building up to an election.

Here's what we'll be focusing on in the mean time:

  • Voter Registrations.  It's ultimately important that we keep up the number of registered Libertarian voters, because a minimum number of registered voters are required in order to maintain ballot status.  If we lose ballot status, then we lose choices during the elections.  It's important to have a choice between many candidates, as each will bring their own ideas to the discussion.  Registering to vote is quick and easy at ServiceArizona.com.
  • Newsletter Subscribers.  Several times per month, I address an issue that I believe is pertinent either to current events, understanding libertarian principles, or a combination of both.  The newsletter that you receive includes an invite feature that allows you to send invites to others.  I would highly encourage you to use that feature, forward the newsletter to those you think would find it interesting, post it to your MySpace pages, or reference it in other ways.  You can always link to the page on the campaign site where the newsletter lives.  Our goal is to reach 1,000 subscribers by Summer of 2009, and I need your help.
  • Libertarian Solution Radio Program.  The new radio program is intended to discuss issues important to the public.  Whereas most political radio talk shows focus on whining and complaining, our focus is on solutions; practical solutions that are derived directly from libertarian principles.  The program airs live on Wednesday's at 7pm (Arizona time) and can be heard on 1310 KXAM, live on the Libertarian Solution website, archived on the site, or subscribed to as a Podcast.

Please join me in increasing Libertarian voter registrations, reaching our goal of newsletter subscriptions, and spreading the news of the only on-air broadcast of libertarian ideals and practical answers.
